CHARITY champion Caroline Egan is ensuring her mum's memory lives on by helping raise money for a cause close to her heart.

Her mum Marie Chew died of cancer five years ago and ever since Caroline has thrown herself into raising cash for Rossendale Hospice.

Her latest fundraising venture is a fun day and darts marathon at Rosemount Working Men's Club, Stacksteads, on Sunday, May 27.

Caroline of Hammond Avenue, Stacksteads, said: "My mum used to play darts with the family so when she died of cancer five years ago we raised £5,000 for the Hospice by doing something she enjoyed."

Following on from that success Caroline is planning her latest event this time with extra activities.

As well as the darts marathon from 10am to 10pm there will be a raffle, a tombola, guess the name of the teddy, guess how many sweets in a jar, spin the wheel, face painting and more.

Caroline has written to companies inviting them to donate prizes and within a week has been promised a weekend for two in Folkestone with a day trip to Paris from Autumn Travel and family tickets to the Liverpool Football Club museum, Blackpool Tower and Pleasure Beach, theatre tickets and much more.

She said: "I am amazed at the incredible support and response in such a short time."

Anyone willing to donate a prize or who would like to play in the darts marathon can contact Caroline on 01706 870133.
