A YOUNG Lancashire rose queen raised £656 for the baby unit at Queens Park Hospital, Blackburn and presented the cheque to Sister Patsy Mulhein yesterday.
Vicky Poulton, 15, Tarbet Crescent in Blackburn was picked to be this year's rose queen for St Oswald's church, who set her the task of raising money for a children's charity.
Vicky's mum, Karen Poulton said: "Vicky has worked very hard to raise this money. She organised 'fun day in church,' where lots of children brought games and had lots of fun for the day and people made donations.
"Then she decided to have a car boot sale and got everyone she knows to donates clothes and other items that we could sell - at one point you couldn't move in my house."
"I am very proud of my daughter, but she hasn't stopped working yet -- she has just started organising another car boot for charity."
