HEALTHY eating is top of the menu for toddlers at Bury College's nursery.
It has just been awarded a Heartbeat Award for providing healthy food choices and good standards of food hygiene.
To qualify, the nursery's kitchen, food preparation areas and menus were inspected by Bury Council's dietician and environmental health officers.
Cook Janet Kirk and the nursery team have been working with community dietician Sue Hansdorfer to ensure there is a healthy balance of foods.
The children have a choice of two menus every day, which feature fresh vegetables or salad, fresh fruit and dairy products. Only low sugar drinks are provided.
Nursery manager Joanne Sutcliffe said: "We are thrilled to receive this award which reflects the high standards of care that we provide. Good nutrition is essential and we ensure that the children have a well balanced, healthy diet."
