MIKE Atherton will be back at Old Trafford tomorrow after less than 48 hours rest -- playing in Lancashire's Championship match against Leicestershire.

Coach Bob Simpson revealed today that Athers would be back to boost his county as they aim to build on Saturday's dramatic victory over Northants.

Atherton has been Lancashire's most consistent batsman, along with Neil Fairbrother, this season, hitting three half centuries in one day matches to go with his 53 for England yesterday.

He has only played in one Championship game so far, the defeat at Leicester, where he scored 29 and 12.

However, his exclusion from the England squad for the triangular one day series against Pakistan and Australia means that he could also be available for Lancashire's home Championship game against Essex later this month, providing Duncan Fletcher gives him the all clear.

With Andy Flintoff also missing out on the one day series, Lancashire are selecting from full strength for the first time this season and they have made a number of changes to the team that won in Northampton.

Out go Ryan Driver, Tim Roberts and Chris Schofield, and there is still no place for Mike Smethurst or Graham Lloyd.

Joe Scuderi, who has been guesting professional with Lancashire League side Accrington, returns to the middle order after hitting a century for the second team in Bristol last week.

And Gary Keedy has also been recalled for the first time since he suffered a back spasm in the opening game at Somerset back in April.

Lancashire will be aiming for revenge after they suffered a bitterly disappointing defeat at Leicester last month.

Lancashire: Atherton, Chilton, Crawley, Fairbrother, Flintoff, Scuderi, Hegg, Chapple, Martin, Keedy, Muralitharan.
