STEAM enthusiasts will join dare devils and Vikings at Stacksteads summer fair on Sunday.

The mix of events, from noon, should prove a real crowd-puller with people having the chance to SCAD dive -- 'bungee jumping minus the rope' with a freefall sky dive from a cage into a net.

Whitworth Vikings will set up camp and a steam engine and fire engine will be on show for inspection.

There will be a novelty dog show, stalls and events and entertainment from local bands.

SCAD diving is organised by extreme sport specialists from Bacup Skyborne UK.

It costs £40 to take part which can be funded by sponsorship with profits going to the jumper's charity.

Kay Barcroft, co-organise and a member of Stacksteads Riverside Park Group, said: "I have received quite a few sponsorship forms, but people can turn up and pay on the day."

Rossendale Councillor and County Council candidate David Easton and local postman Dale Connearn have signed up to take a dive for Stacksteads Riverside Park Group.

Kay said: "The fair is always well attended because there is such a variety of things to do and see. The SCAD diving is a great opportunity to try something unique and exciting and raise money for chairty."
