SPOT checks on visitors to Burnley General Hospital's dermatology unit aimed to increase awareness of the dangers of over-exposure to the sun.
The unit was taking part in European Melanoma Day when people were invited to attend to have any worrying moles examined.
With holiday time just around the corner, hospital chiefs are sending out a sun awareness message to highlight the dangers of skin cancer -- the second most common cancer in the UK.
A similar open day last year diagnosed one patient with a malignant melanoma and four other skin malignancies were also discovered.
