PADIHAM FC's North West Counties Football League goal grabber Lee Chambers, scored again when he won the club's first team players' player of the year award at the end of season presentation evening held at the Arbories.

Lee's 33 goal haul helped the Storks secure eighth position in Division Two of the NWCFL in their first season back in the non-league set-up after a 10 year absence.

Carl Parker received the manager's first team player of the year award despite breaking his leg midway through the season. The central defender recovered from his injury and was instrumental in the Storks' excellent end of season run of results.

Other awards went to Martyn Thompson (reserve players' player of the year), Mark Derbyshire (reserves manager's player of the year), Ray Norris (A team players' player of the year); Mark Hanson (A team manager's player of the year).

Young player of the year went to 16-year-old Martyn Thompson.

The Clubman of the year award went to 83-year-old club president Tommy Helm.

Padiham's preparations for next season are already well under way with pre-season friendlies pencilled in against Crosshills FC (West Lancashire League) away, Great Harwood (NWCFL Division One) away, Ramsbottom (NWCFL Division One) home, Burnley FC Under 19 (home), dates and kick off times to be announced.

Pre-season training will start during the first week of July.

Padiham are still trying to complete a history of the club from 1878 to the present day and would be interested to hear from anyone who has any memorabilia or old team photographs of the club.

They are especially keen to obtain a copy of the match report of their FA Cup third round clash against Blackburn Rovers from December 1883 which Rovers won 3-0 on their way to winning the FA Cup that season.

Club secretary Alan Smith can be contacted on 01282 771963 or 242 Burnley Road, Padiham.
