TWO years ago I had a major stroke. From the time my wife dialled 999 until my recent and last visit to my GP, Dr McGowan, I have had excellent care.
This letter is a way of thanking all those involved, particularly those in Bury General and Fairfield hospitals, for their care and kindness. With recent publicity in mind, let me emphasise that the consultants there have nothing to apologise to me about, although I realise that the NHS has its problems.
What has prompted me to write is that Tony Blair has finally come out in the open over privatising the NHS and all those of goodwill should rally to save it. I was brought up in the USA and I don't want to see the NHS go under in my adoptive country.
The kind of care I received from the NHS is not available in America at any price.
BILL BRISON,
Scott Avenue,
Bury.
