THREE Pendle teenagers who are joining a charity mission to Romania will have to wait on an e-mail arriving to tell them if they have passed their AS level exams.

Gemma Horsfield, 17, Jenna Deeming, 16, and Daniel Potter, 17, are joining Jesus And Relief Supplies, Pendle based charity JARS, on its trip to Romania which leaves on August 11.

While there, the Nelson and Colne College students will get the results of their AS level exams, but their parents are going to have to open the envelopes before e-mailing the results.

Gemma's mum Elaine, said: "The results are due on August 16 and we have an e-mail address in Romania to get in touch with them."

To raise money for the trip, Gemma, of Bentley Street, Nelson, and Jenna, of Parsonage Drive, Barrowford, organised a coffee morning and car wash at their church, Central Methodists, in Nelson.

Daniel, son of the minister at St John's Methodist Church, Colne, organised a music day to raise money. They had to raise £600 but have raised in excess of that.

Elaine said: "In Romania they will be Bible teaching to gypsy children in a camp and they will also be doing various activities and teaching the children some English games.

"They are very excited about it and I think it will be a brilliant and worthwhile experience for them.

"Different people go into the camp at different times of the year and JARS organisers Sue and Ian Paxton go over about five times a year.

"They are looking for someone who can either loan a minibus or put them in touch with a firm which can hire one. If not, they will travel on seats in the back of the container lorry taking the goods out, but it is a three-day trip to get there.

"We have had an overwhelming response to requests for donations of money and items to take over and we are grateful to everyone at the churches for the help they have given."

If anyone can help with the minibus they can contact 0870 7572801.
