A 26-year-old man drowned off the beach at Blackpool early this morning.
The body of Benjamin Hitchings of Guildford, Surrey was found by rescue services washed up close to the lifeboat station at central pier.
Police received reports of a group of people on the beach just before 1.30am.
A man was spotted in the water and police described conditions as "rough".
