NOT in his wildest dreams could Bolton boss Sam Allardyce have envisaged such an emphatic arrival to Premier League management.

Allardyce's men blasted a five-goal salvo away from home to humble Peter Taylor's Leicester City but the Reebok boss admitted: "It surprised me as much as anybody."

Bolton kicked off the season as favourites for the drop and Allardyce said: "All the pundits have written us off and we've used that as motivation.

"We've got to keep trying to prove everyone wrong and prove we are Premiership players but it is not going to be as easy as that."

Wanderers survived a second minute scare at Filbert Street when City's Matt Elliott headed into the side netting but after that it was one-way traffic.

Former Blackburn Rovers midfield man Per Frandsen ran the show -- setting up the opener in the 15th minute with a cross for Kevin Nolan, who scored with a looping header.

Last season's leading scorer Michael Rickets made it 2-0 after 33 minutes, forcing his way past Leicester defender Gary Rowett, before powering a shot into the top corner from an acute angle.

Nolan smashed home his second and Frandsen made it 4-0 from a free-kick all before the break.

Bolton completely controlled the second half and, with their fans signing "We are top of the League", Frandsen put the icing on the cake by curling in a second free-kick seven minutes from time.

All this without Colin Hendry and summer signings Djibril Diawara and Akinori Nishizawa who were also sidelined through injury.

Bolton will be looking to build on their excellent start when Middlesbrough visit the Reebok tomorrow.
