REGARDING 'Hyndburn's dirtiest street' (LET, August 13), while constant dumping and littering by a certain 'scum' element is no doubt annoying to anyone who cares about their health and environment, the Cedar Street case is just the tip of the iceberg.
I am not going to single out any one area, but if you take a look down 75 per cent of Hyndburn's alleyways you will no doubt see at least one case of a dumping, or bin bags being put out a day after the local refuse wagon has been.
This is so unnecessary when the council provides a very efficient service to remove items such as bags of rubble, grass cuttings and bulky household items, within reason, free of charge, bar the cost of a phone call.
The point that really annoys me is that most incidents of dumping must be witnessed by somebody, but nobody wants to report it.
I guess these are the same people who always wonder why no-one seems to hear or see anything when their houses and cars are being vandalised or burgled.
It makes you think, or does nobody in Hyndburn care any more?
