A QUICK check on how their players spent Friday and Saturday night might prove fruitful for Greenmount officials.

For the Bolton League side weren't in the hunt on Saturday afternoon as they chased a modest Tonge total, but then on Sunday the 'Mount came roaring back to top form as they swept aside Egerton, Nigel Franklyn notching his first 'ton' for the side.

Visitors Tonge had two main contributors at Brandlesholme Road, opener Nasir with 54 and Taljard with 47, everyone else struggling to take runs off Mark Stewart and Saeed Anwar who each bagged four wickets.

But a 164 victory target proved out of reach as the homesters when down like nine-pins as Taljard did the bulk of the damage with 5 for 51. Taylor bagged four wickets and but for their last pair, Stewart 34 and Derek Kay 16 not out, it would have been a complete rout although youngster Peter Crawford hit a useful 22.

Twenty-four hours later Franklyn was the hero as his unbeaten 104 helped the village side storm to 233 for 3, a formidable total.

Egerton's was always a rearguard action but despite another four wickets apiece for Stewart and Anwar the Bolton side held out for a draw at 139 for 9.
