A FRIGHTENED 38-year-old woman driver was hit on the head as a thug smashed her car window and stole her bag.
The incident happened after the victim's Vauxhall Astra stopped in Bury Old Road, Prestwich.
Police said that a male teenager smashed the passenger window of the vehicle, reached in and grabbed the bag.
During the incident, the woman was hit on the side of the head by the robber. He was then seen getting into a nearby blue J-registered vehicle.
The stolen bag contained credit cards and a mobile phone.
Police say that the thief was short and slim with short fair hair and wearing a black baseball cap, black T-shirt and black jacket.
Anyone with information about the robbery, which happened at 10.40am on Friday (Aug 24) is asked to ring Whitefield CID on 8546 8240.
