BURNLEY boss Stan Ternent will not be making any special plans to combat Bradford City's three-pronged attack at Valley Parade on Sunday.

Bantams boss Jim Jeffries has opted for a 4-3-3 formation this term with Eoin Jess, Ashley Ward and Benito Carbone supplying the threat up front.

So far they have bagged five League goals between them as City have put together a three-match winning run but, while aware of the abilities of his opponents, Ternent was not about to make any changes.

"Ward, Carbone and Jess are all very good players," said Ternent. "But we have no special plans.

"Carbone is a very talented player who does things his own way.

"Like Di Canio at West Ham, he is capable of doing something different and we know he will be a handful. It is something to look forward to."

And Ternent added jokingly: "Hopefully he'll have an extra plate of spaghetti before the game to slow him down."

While Jeffries' attack is settled, Ternent is deliberating over who to play in his two-man spearhead.

With Gareth Taylor on duty with the Welsh squad, and hoping to earn his ninth international cap against Armenia at the Millennium Stadium tomorrow, Ternent is without his usual pairing of Taylor and Ian Moore.

Greek under-21 striker Dimitrios Papadopoulos joined up with his national side yesterday as they prepare for next Tuesday's match in Finland, and that leaves Ternent to perm two from three.

"All in all we are without four players due to injuries and international calls, but we have got Tony Ellis, Andy Payton and Ian Moore to choose from," said Ternent.

"We will have to see how things go, but we should have Alan Moore back after his injury.

"He is back in training and he will have a couple of days of work before the game."

The Republic of Ireland international, who has netted three times this term, missed Monday's 4-2 home reversal at the hands of Manchester City, due to a stomach muscle strain.

However, Bantams boss Jeffries has also had some changes to make.

Centre back David Wetherall has been ruled out of Sunday's clash despite being on the road back after injury.

The centre-half is in full training but will not play against the Clarets and may even fail to be fit for the Bantams next outing at Sheffield United.

"We'll see how he goes over the next couple of weeks with the possibility we might bring him back for the Worthington Cup tie at Rotherham," said Jeffries.

He is also without Jamie Lawrence has flown out to the Caribbean to join up with Jamaica's World Cup squad.

But Jeffries has bolstered his squad by bringing in former Blackburn midfielder Lee Makel on a short-term contract.

Left-sided midfielder Makel, who spent three weeks on trial with the Bantams during pre-season, has signed a two-month contract and will act as cover for Gareth Whalley.

City are also without former Manchester United and Leeds United winger Lee Sharpe, who is awaiting a specialist's report on an injured knee.

"Lee Makel is back training with us and we've managed to get him for a little while," said Jeffries.

"He's had a few offers, but I told him to hang on. Lee has got a good pedigree and I know him very well from Hearts."
