PROFESSIONAL Shaun Young set up Bacup's title triumph with another magnificent all-round performance on Saturday.

The Australian grafted his way to 75 in a total of 168-9 and then claimed 5-18 as Lowerhouse were shot out for just 59.

Young, who faced 133 balls in all and hit four boundaries, shared in a third-wicket stand of 100 with Matt O'Connor to take the game out of Lowerhouse's reach.

And the visitors then guaranteed the maximum points they needed to keep their noses in front of East Lancs as Young and David Ormerod shared all 10 wickets between them. Only leading amateur batsman Chris Bleazard reached double-figures for the hosts.

East Lancs did their bit to take the title race to the wire by recording their own maximum-points victory over Enfield.

Paul Bolton and Paul Turner both made half-centuries after Bolton and skipper Andy Clague (30) had put on 84 for the first wicket on the way to a total of 199-5.

Bolton faced 114 balls and hit eight fours in his 63, while Turner finished unbeaten on 53 from just 52 balls with two sixes and six fours.

In reply, Enfield reached 46-1 but then collapsed to 90 all-out with substitute professional Fernando taking 4-18.

Paul Garaghty and stand-in professional Joe Scuderi set a new club record second wicket stand as Nelson crushed Todmorden.

The pair put on 243 with Scuderi, in for the injured Wade Wingfield, scoring an unbeaten 145 with Garaghty finishing on 80 not out.

And that was after Nelson lost Khurram Nazir with just five runs on the board!

Scuderi smashed six sixes and ten fours in a wonderful innings while opener Garaghty hit six boundaries.

Stuart Lemon then made sure of victory claiming 6-29 as Todmorden were bowled all out for 130. Gary Laycock also took six wickets as his season's best guided Colne to victory at Haslingden.

Laycock finished with 6-33 as Haslingden were skittled out for 78.

Gary Hunt, unbeaten on 45, and Jeff Ellis with 32 then guided Colne to victory.

Church had Tom O'Neill to thank for their sixth win of the season at Ramsbottom with match winning figures of 6-41.

Mark Dentith, with 46, was the only Haslingden batsman to put up any resistance as O'Neill and Nick Westwell took nine wickets between them as Ramsbottom were dismissed for 104.

In reply, Mark Aspin was unbeaten on 38 and Alex Holt scored 25 as Church secured victory.

Matthew Mott chalked up another century - but Burnley will be kicking themselves after dropping the Victorian when he was on just 39.

The Rawtenstall professional made an unbeaten 115 and his eighth wicket partnership with Andy Clough ultimately led to his side's victory.

The Worswick Memorial side leapt from 89-7 to 190-8 thanks to the duo.

Steve Holden was Burnley's best bowler, finishing with figures of 15-2.

Chasing 194, despite Andy McCleod making 50, Burnley fell 45 runs short, Rawtenstall skipper Andy Payne causing most of the problems as he finished with 4-40.

Rishton boosted their bid to seal third spot with a 20-run win over Accrington on Saturday.

Pro Clinton Perren was the star with 72 before he became one of Tama Canning's four victims.

John Seedle also chipped in with 39 as Rishton set Accrington a target of 179.

Despite a quick fire 51 from Accrington pro Canning, the Thorneyholme Road side fell short, Perren and Seedle taking three wickets apiece.
