RMI will face a tough test if they are to make the First Round proper of this year's FA Cup after being paired with old adversaries Worksop Town in the final qualifying round.

The Railwaymen will meet Chris Waddle's UniBond Premier League outfit at Hilton Park on Saturday, October 27 in a game that is going to bring back good memories for Steve Waywell's men.

Leigh beat the Tigers in an outstanding match at Sandy Lane in the third qualifying round of the 1998-99 competition on their way to a bumper pay day at Craven Cottage. RMI made a late comeback after falling behind to Kenny Clark's goal for the Nottinghamshire side and clinched the tie with goals from Keith Evans and Eric Rostron after Martin James had marked his substitute appearance with a vintage cameo performance.

Worksop currently occupy seventh place in the UniBond League just six points behind the leaders, but Town will fancy their chances against higher league opposition after RMI's dismal home start has seen them win just two of their eight home fixtures in the league.

Worksop were the last team who Leigh played in the UniBond League with a comprehensive 3-0 win in May 2000, as RMI celebrated the championship and promotion to non-league's elite division.

Shout about

However, the Tigers had not previously given Leigh fans much to shout about. They knocked Leigh out of the FA Trophy in November 1999 after a replay and had not lost to RMI in their previous three league meetings.

If there is half as much entertainment as in last year's final qualifier at Scarborough, the game should make for a fascinating spectacle. Leigh went through to face Millwall after a Tony Black hat-trick contributed to a 4-3 win at the McCain Stadium.
