"WAS it a good goal, did he mean it? I thought he was just trying to put it back across the goal," said Palace boss Steve Bruce.

"But we have had a terrific run and I think you can see the huge progress we have made and the spirit amongst the players.

"We deserved to get something from the game and I would like to see the statistic for the possession in the second half of the game.

"All credit to Stan Ternent but the fact that he changed his system showed the respect he has for us.

"He changed his formation and changed his shape and the lads at the back played very well.

"We lost Dougie Freedman to 'flu which took that cutting edge away from us.

"Clinton Morrison and Freedman have played exceptionally well for us and we lost a bit of our fluidity.

"I can't remember Burnley having a chance and we didn't have many except at the end when Thomson dragged a shot past the post.

"I would like to know why the Football League keeps sending us north on a Tuesday night.

"That is three trips we have had this season and we spent 11 hours getting here yesterday because we got stuck on the M25.

Burnley boss Stan Ternent said: "Cooky said he lobbed him so it was a great goal.

"Even if it was a fluke we have had a few go against us this season like the one at Norwich that flew into the top corner.

Paul Weller, the Clarets midfielder, said: "We did get frustrated by the ref because decisions kept going against us.

"But you get that sometimes and other days they go in your favour.

A lot of decisions seemed to go against Gareth (Taylor) and at times it did feel like we were playing against 12 men but it is not an easy job being the referee."
