IWAS most interested to read the article (LET, November 1) concerning Mrs Georgene Holmes' search for the grave of her uncle, Private George Jones, who died in North Africa in 1943.
Private Jones is buried in a cemetery in Tunisia cared for by the Commonwealth War Graves Commission, whose task it is to commemorate the Commonwealth's 1.7 million war dead who are buried in cemeteries and remembered on memorials all over the world.
Readers wanting to trace the final resting place of relatives who died in the two world wars can access the Commission's records through our web site; the search-by-surname Debt of Honour register is at www.cwgc.org. Inquiries by letter and telephone are also welcome.
