RICHARD JOHNSON made a stunning England debut as the tourists obliterated India A's top order at the Sawai Man Singh Stadium.

The Somerset seamer, omitted from the first two matches on tour, struck twice in his opening over of the day and again in his second as the hosts were reduced to eight for four.

Andrew Flintoff, flown in from Australia at the weekend, took the new ball alongside him and claimed the fourth wicket, vindicating Nasser Hussain's decision to bowl first on a green-tinged strip.

Hussain has now won all three tosses on the six-week tour, belying his jinx in Test matches.

Johnson's sensational first over, a double-wicket maiden, highlighted the considerable movement in the air on offer.

An outswinger with his third ball enticed a nick from Vinayak Mane, the Mumbai opener, and two deliveries later an inswinger bowled Yere Gowda via an inside edge.

Left-handed opener Gautam Gambhir was then adjudged leg before with one that shaped back into him as Johnson - who recorded first spell figures of 7-2-19-3 - claimed his third wicket in six balls.

Flintoff took the fourth, when R.R.Parida turned his head on a delivery of steepling bounce to glove a catch to James Foster, the Essex wicketkeeper's second of the morning.

The hosts took lunch at 87 for four.
