REGARDING the remarks of C H Whiteside (Sport Letters, January 8) giving Graeme Souness a new deal is not the point -- Graeme only needs to ask the board and he will be given as long as he wants.

Surely, the reason Rovers were relegated three seasons ago was because the manager wasn't up to Graeme's class.

As for Dunn, Flitcroft and Jansen, they are good enough for England but Sven Goran Eriksson is only picking players from four big clubs. Rovers haven't been playing badly.

They sold Bent and Blake and suddenly found themselves short of strikers.

Now Andy Cole is at Rovers, the aim must be to get to the Worthington Cup final and let Eriksson be reminded how good the Rovers team is playing against the best foreign players at Chelsea and Tottenham.
