BURY'S position at the bottom of the Second Division's Fair Play League is a false one according to Shakers manager Andy Preece.

Prior to Saturday's game the club were propping up the section with an average of 19.9 points a game with 54 bookings and five sendings off.

One more booking and sending off at the weekend won't have done the cause much good and with a suspended £25,000 fine hanging over the club's head after a poor disciplinary record last season it could be an expensive end to the campaign.

But the Bury boss has been nonplussed by some of the decisions that have gone against his players this season with Steve Redmond's controversial dismissal on Saturday just one in a long line of injustices.

"Some of the decisions that have been going against us this season have been crazy," said Preece.

"There's no way we are a dirty team. All I can say to the players is make sure we don't pick up bookings for dissent and we impose fines internally at the club for that.

"When we brought in a referee to the club to try and sort the situation out he even said that he couldn't understand how we'd picked up half of them so what can you do?

"Players have to be competitive and win balls that are there to be won and they can't go on the field worrying about the club getting fined because if you start stepping out of tackles you are in trouble."
