CUP shock troops North Ferriby United stand in the way of Radcliffe Borough and a much-needed victory at Stainton Park tomorrow.

The East Yorkshire side knocked big guns Altrincham out of the FA Trophy last Saturday in a thrilling game at Grange Lane, which ended in a 3-2 win for Ferriby.

Boro have lost the last two games they have managed to play during the recent frozen spell, 3-1 at home to derby rivals Rossendale United on Boxing Day and 2-1 up in the North East at Spennymoor United last Saturday.

Everyone knows how important it is to get a win under their belts, and, as chairman Bernard Manning Junior says, proving they can do it without manager Kevin Glendon around is becoming another obstacle Boro have got to overcome.

Glendon is still unwell after suffering a suspected angina attack on his way home from the game against Leek at Stainton Park back on December 1. "We have to get our first win without Kevin being around," said Manning. "Mark Dempsey and Mike Farrelly are totally capable of winding the players up. Demps is very knowledgeable, technically, about the game. There is no reason why they can't do it between them.

"Things are not going all right at the moment because we are not getting the results. We are just too nice. Games like the one up at Spennymoor you have got to dig in, show more passion and want to win the match.

"Spennymoor had that on the day. They had a new manager and a few new players. It was very disappointing as far as we were concerned.

"We are hoping we can get off to a better start with this home game now tomorrow. We need to get up and running again.

"Hopefully, there will be a decent crowd on and they will get behind us and help the players. They need all the encouragement they can get at the moment.

"North Ferriby will be full of confidence, so it will be a good test for us. We all know our lads can do it," added Manning.

Farrelly reports no injury worries following the game at Spennymoor. "We should have a full squad to choose from and the suspended players, Lee Kissock and Tony Whealing will be available again."

Ferriby are also set to welcome back defender Andy Smith and midfielder Nathan Stead. Both missed the win over Altrincham. Ferriby have drawn Braintree Town at home in the fopurth round of the Trophy. The game will be played on February 2, with the lure of a place in the final at Villa Park four games away.
