COMPLAINTS about foul smelling and spoiled hot dogs have prompted warnings about a possible problem with a brand of canned hot dog sausages.

Cans of Ye Olde Oak Food's own brand hot dogs have been recalled following a small number of complaints.

Wyre Borough Council's Food Safety Section has issued a warning to Fylde shoppers who may have bought the cans.

They say manufacturers have withdrawn 400gm cans of 8 Premium Hot Dog Sausages with a best before date of September 2004 and 400gm cans of 8 Premium Hot Dog Sausages with a best before date of October 2004.

David Watson, Wyre Borough Council's food safety manager, said that there had not been any reports of illness associated with the hot dogs to date but recommended that people check to see whether they had any of the cans in their cupboards.

The advice from manufacturers is to throw the cans away, but first remove the labels and send them to Ye Olde Oak Foods to receive a full refund, including postage.

Send your labels to: Ye Olde Oak Foods Ltd, Customer Care Department, Bellerive House, Muirfield Crescent, London E14 9SZ. Include your name, address and the can code.
