THE mother of a tragic tot who was killed in a road accident has appealed for witnesses to come forward.

Sharon Barnowski, 30, said she was deeply in shock at the death of son Bradley Louis Turner who she called "My baby."

Mrs Barnowski, of Brook Street, Clitheroe, appealed for anybody who knew who Bradley was with at the time of the accident to come forward.

Four-year-old Bradley was knocked down and killed after he ran out in front of a car outside Clitheroe Cricket Club, Chatburn Road, Clitheroe.

Police and paramedics were called to the scene after the accident at about 6pm on Saturday. Bradley was taken to Blackburn Royal Infirmary but was pronounced dead on arrival.

Today Mrs Barnowski said: "I am deeply in shock. He was my baby, baby Bradley.

"I will miss him so very much. Ever since I have had children Chatburn Road has always been a nightmare for me. I know how busy it is and I was always telling the children to never go near the main road.

"Bradley was with someone who ran off when the accident happened and we need to know who that was. Somebody must know and I would ask them to tell the police."

His father, Gary Turner, described his son as "my diamond geezer" and a copy of the front page of the Lancashire Evening Telegraph has been placed among floral and teddy bear tributes at the scene of the accident.

Friends of the family also paid tribute to the youngster. Rebecca Magee, who runs the Trinity Youth Disco on Wesleyan Road every Saturday, which Bradley used to go to, said: "He was such a lovely little boy and everybody loved him."

Anybody who witnessed the accident and saw who Bradley was with should call the Road Policing Unit at Accrington on 01254 353764.

Bradley's funeral will be at St Michael's and St John's Church, Clitheroe next Tuesday afternoon.
