SO the guessing is over and ex-Scotland boss Craig Brown has got the job of guiding Preston North End to the Premiership.

Selected from a short list of five 'top' names Mr Brown has been given a reported four year contract.

Being that the board wanted a man with plenty of experience, how did they come to select Craig Brown?

OK, he has lots of experience at international level, but will that do him good in the rough and tumble of Nationwide League Division One?

His only experience of management at league level came with a part-time post at -- wait for it, Clyde.

No disrespect to them, but is that all the club management experience it takes to become manager of PNE?

It's said in the game that Craig is very good at coaching younger players, and getting the best out of players already at his disposal.

Does this mean no new players coming in prior to the start of next season? Maybe that's the reason he beat off the challenge of four other 'top' names!

We sincerely hope that Craig Brown is a success at Deepdale and we wish him luck. He seems a thoroughly nice guy, but nice guy's seldom win anything in today's football.

Now that the position of manager has been decided can we get on with announcing season ticket prices/seat allocations/sale dates etc for next season.

Lots of people will be away on holiday soon and they would like to know what's what before they go.
