ONE of Canvey Island's most famous sons Wilko Johnson will be appearing at Blackburn's North Bar on Sunday.

The doyen of R&B guitarists and founder member of Dr Feelgood will be playing with former Ian Durie and the Blockheads bassist Norman Watt-Roy. Completing the line-up will be drummer Monti, also formerly of the Bockheads and who has also played with The Jesus and Mary Chain and Curve.

Tickets for the gig are £8.

The North Bar has also pulled off a major coup by booking one of the leading names from the Manchester scene of the early Nineties for a gig on Sunday June 1.

ACR will play the North Bar and a date at the Jazz Cafe. A Certain Ratio are often described as 'one of the best bands never to have a chart hit' and played a key role in the Maddchester music scene.

The recent feature film 24 Hour Party People, which looked at the story of Factory Records, featured work by ACR.

Ronnie Brown from the North Bar said: "This is perhaps the biggest gig we've organised so far. We are thrilled to have got ACR and it's definitely going to be a sell out.

Tickets from the gig are available from the North Bar priced at £15 each.
