POLICE are appealing for information after an elderly Barnoldswick man was assaulted in the street on Sunday morning.
DC Andy Eddleston, of Colne CID, said the 72-year-old, who has not been identified, had been in Ravenscroft Way at around 10am.
He was approached by a white male who headbutted him but nothing was stolen.
The pensioner was taken to Burnley General Hospital after suffering a small cut to his head but is now said to be fine.
DC Eddleston said: "We just want anyone who knows anything about this incident to get in touch. It is very unusual for someone to walk up to an elderly man and headbutt him."
