Previous prize winners Blackburn Road Runners Ladies finished eighth of 15 teams at the Man versus Horse Marathon at Llanwrtyd Wells in Mid Wales.
Norma Smith, Eileen Peat and Brenda Fullard combined to take the team around the 22 mile multi-terrain course in 3:47.
With heavy ground and a particularly large entry of 38 horses the going was difficult this year, but three club members still completed the full distance.
Fran Finnerty logged 3:12, John Brighouse 3:48 and the race's oldest competitor, 71 year old Ray Moulding recorded 3:59. After 23 years, still the winning runner has never beaten the first horse.
