I HAD the sad task of speaking to tragic star wrestler Davey Boy Smith's father, Sid, about his son's shock death.

As I arrived at his Golborne home he was obviously stunned by the third tragedy in his family in a short time, and was in the front porch cleaning windows.

Sid, who in 1999 lost his wife, Joyce, and daughter Tracey to cancer at 26, was obviously trying to cope as best he could with the shattering blow of the British Bulldog's death at 39 in his adopted Canada.

His wish now is to bring the WWF idol's body home to be reunited with his family members in the local churchyard. I hope this dream is allowed to come true, but the decision rests with David's two teenage children.

No man should have to suffer what Sid must have gone through in recent times. Can any parent imagine losing two children at such a young age? It beggars belief. Hearts must go out to the family in this time of distress.
