A BUSINESSMAN and his teenage daughter were attacked by three robbers who stormed into his shop armed with a sword and threatened to cut their hands off.

The masked robbers barged into Comteq Communications in Bury New Road, Whitefield, last Friday morning (June 7) and threatened Mr Kaz Penash and his 13-year-old daughter with the sword and a golf club.

Mr Penash (48), who runs the mobile phone shop, was hit on the wrist with a golf club and taken to hospital for stitches and treatment to a broken wrist.

His daughter was thrown to the floor by the raiders.

Mr Penash said: "It was very frightening. I had my child in there and she should not have to see things like that. They threw her to the floor and cornered me in my office. They threatened to cut off our hands."

He added: "My daughter is still in shock and she jumps whenever she hears a noise. She has had nightmares and cannot sleep."

The armed robbers struck at the shop at around 9.30am and grabbed a quantity of cash, more than £2,000 which was the takings for the week, a briefcase, a box of mobile phones and cameras totalling around £10,000.

Mr Penash has been at his current premises for four years but previously had an office further up Bury New Road.

He said: "They have taken my livelihood of ten years. This is the third time I have been robbed and I work very hard to try and earn an honest living."

Mr Penash is so fed up with being targeted that he is now considering closing down the business.

"I can't do it any longer," he added, "this is the last straw. Something needs to be done about the crime in Whitefield. I want CCTV cameras to be installed but we are told there is not enough reason to install them."

Witnesses saw the masked men leave the shop and get into a silver coloured Honda Civic which had been previously stolen from Bolton.

The car was discovered a short time later in nearby Conway Close where the men are believed to have transferred to a red saloon car, possibly a Vauxhall Cavalier.
