CLITHEROE Football Club have pulled off a major coup by hosting 'An audience with Kevin Keegan and Carlo Nash'.

The Manchester City manager and the former Blues keeper will be appearing at Shawbridge on Thursday October 24.

"I just can't believe it," admitted Clitheroe Chairman Dave Burgess who got in touch with former England manager Keegan at Maine Road.

"I wrote to him more in hope in some ways, I explained our connection with Carlo and said how difficult it is for non-League football clubs in the current financial climate.

"He wrote back with a few dates and said he would like to come.

"It is one of the biggest things to happen at Shawbridge, having the former England manager here, and we are confident it will be a very successful evening."

Nash, who was also at Rossendale United, played his final game at Clitheroe in the FA Vase final in 1996 when they lost 3-1 to Brigg Town.

Then he was snapped up by Crystal Palace went onto Stockport County before he signed for Manchester City.

He is now competing with Peter Schmeichel and Nicky Weaver for the number one spot at Maine Road.

The evening at Shawbridge starts at 7.30pm and will be compared by television sports presenter Peter Stevenson.

The audience can ask both Keegan and Nash questions and there will also be a pie and peas supper and a raffle.

The price is £20 but numbers are limited to 150.
