AN investigation has been launched after a 33-year-old local man died when he was trapped in machinery at his work.
The man, from Pendle, was released by emergency services from rolling machinery at Janesville Products, in Spring Gardens Road, Colne, at 5pm yesterday.
He is believed to have been cleaning the machinery when he got trapped. Paramedics treated him at the scene for crush injuries and was taken to Burnley General Hospital.
Police scenes of crime officers were called at the time of the accident and officers from the Health and Safety Executive are also investigating the incident.
A Lancashire Police spokesman said: "The victim was released from the machinery by paramedics and taken to hospital in Burnley.
"Unfortunately medical staff were unable to save him and he was pronounced dead about an hour later."
The victim has not yet been formally identified.
