PRESTON North End's new international winger should know within the next 24 hours whether he will be allowed to play for the club.
Both Lewis, who signed from Fulham on Friday, and North End's management are currently sweating on a work permit following his arrival at Deepdale.
One application has already been rejected, despite the fact Lewis has been employed in the UK for more than two years.
An appeal is due to take place on Wednesday
Chairman Derek Shaw said: "We aren't expecting the worst. We feel we have a very good case."
North End are so confident about Lewis' arrival that he was paraded around Deepdale ahead of last Sunday's clash with Ipswich as 'our new player.'
He spent the game in the stands, dressed in North End's official team suit.
