A CHORLEY man who bit, slapped and kicked his wife in a late night outburst has been spared a prison sentence.
Mark Baron attacked her when they returned from a night out.
And Preston Crown Court heard that the assault only ended when police arrived on the scene.
Baron, 36, of The Cresent, Chorley was placed on two years community rehabilitation.
He had pleaded guilty to a charge of assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
The court was told that Baron initially slapped his wife Catherine Mary three to four times before pinning her on the bed.
He said he was going to chew her to pieces and bit her on the lip.
He went on to pin her to the bed a second time and later kicked her three times to the hip as she lay on the floor.
The woman managed to ring the police and the incident only came to an end when they arrived.
Huw Dixon, defending, said Mrs Baron had made a retraction statement and indicated that she wanted to withdraw her complaint.
