DRINKERS had to be evacuated when a curtain caught fire at a club in Bury.
When firefighters arrived at the Chicago Rock Cafe on Haymarket Street they found that customers and staff were safely outside.
They used an extinguisher to put out the flames just after 10pm. The fire is thought to have started because the curtain was too close to a spotlight on the stage.
A firebrigade spokesman said: "It was only took a matter of minutes to put out the fire. The alarm had gone off so everyone was safely outside when we arrived. "
