WAYNE Curtis gave Morecambe a second straight victory at Christie Park on Tuesday night.

The striker's 20-yard effort after half an hour was enough to separate the teams as Jim Harvey's men dominated.

It leaves Morecambe on the fringe of the play-off zone, just one point behind fifth-placed Hereford.

Saturday sees them travel to Underhill, home of Barnet.

In their second season since relegation, the Bees lie in mid-table, four points behind Morecambe, but will also have high hopes of reaching the play-off zone.

A five-star performance against a poor Woking side restored some of Morecambe's confidence on Saturday, with midfielder Stewart Drummond earning the plaudits with his first Shrimps hat trick.

Adriano Rigoglioso opened the scoring after 24 minutes when he headed home a cross from Lee Elam.

The lead was doubled 10 minutes later when youngster Michael Stringfellow took a leaf out of Drummond's book with a powerful long-range effort that left the keeper with no chance.

Drummond got in on the act after 38 minutes with a close range effort and made it four shortly after the break with a deflected long-range shot.

It was the last minute before Drummond completed the scoring, tapping home from close range after a Rigoglioso shot rattled the post.

Morecambe's Northwich jinx struck again last Wednesday night - despite a spirited fight back from Jim Harvey's side.

The Shrimps never won at Northwich's former home, the sadly demolished Drill Field, and continued that less than impressive record at Witton Albion's stadium.

The scoring started for the hosts after just 15 minutes when Greg Blundell turned home a through ball from the impressive former Crewe midfielder, Kevin Street.

Paul Gibson saved well to deny Ryan-Zico Black from close range and, shortly after the break, Street intervened again, this time scoring himself with a long-range effort.

However, Michael Stringfellow won his side a penalty after a foul by Danny Ingram and up stepped Wayne Curtis to increase the advantage and put Morecambe back into the game.

Black equalised a few minutes later, with a long range shot after Adriano Rigoglioso turned the ball back to him at the edge of the penalty area.

Morecambe could reasonably have expected to have gone on and win the game but, with time ticking away, former Carlisle striker Johnny Allan converted a cross from the experienced Steve Garvey to seal three points and consign the Shrimps to the familiar, painful, pointless return from their least favourite away trip.
