WHATEVER your views on the aims of the Countryside Alliance you have to admire the way they organised the demonstration in London.
They managed to attract 407,791 people to march in the largest-ever demonstration in the capital.
Incredibly, given such numbers, there were just four arrests.
The protest proved that in a democracy you can make your protest without resulting to thuggish behaviour.
I think that democracy was the winner.
