WALKING down Church Street in Blackburn recently, I observed a structure that at first glance reminded me of a headless chicken.

I presumed that this is one of the new 'sculptures' and is intended to represent the state of the present council.

There does not seem to be a town in the North West that has not had a connection with the cotton industry in its past or one that does not have sculptures on the same theme.

If we must have these monstrosities littering our streets, could we not at least have ones designed by our local college students looking forward to the future and not dwelling on the past.
