...a round up of the happenings in and around Ewood Park.

RL Test offers

ROVERS fans attending today's match at Ewood Park will get the chance to take advantage of a fantastic ticket offer for Great Britain's Test match against New Zealand on Saturday, November 9, the first ever rugby league international to be played at the ground.

The Lions take on the Kiwis in the first match of the three game series and promotional teams will be at Rovers' game against Newcastle United giving fans special flyers offering cut price tickets.

The special flyer allows adults to get tickets for £10, a saving of £5, and concessions will get tickets for £4, half the usual price.

Flyers can be redeemed at the Ewood Park ticket office, King Georges Hall and Darwen Theatre.

The promotional teams will also be in Blackburn town centre on Saturday morning from 10am as part of a rugby league roadshow in Victoria Court, in the Blackburn shopping centre.

Rovers regular Ian puts bum on seats for charity

"SIT down if you love Blackburn" sang dedicated Rovers supporter Ian Filbin as he endured a sponsored sit at the Blackburn End of Ewood Park.

Or at least he might have, as over the space of six hours Ian successfully sat in every single seat at the popular end of the ground - that's 8,000 in total!

Ian, who lives in Longridge, works as a local government official in Burnley and was raising money for the Mayor's charity, a cause dedicated to research and development into cancer, particularly prostate cancer in men.

"It was hard work and my thighs were very sore afterwards," said Ian, a lifelong Rovers supporter and also a member of the club's Fans Forum.

"I had over £500 pledged before I set off which was a great incentive to get through.

"I've never done anything like this before, I must be mad. But it's a good cause, which helps to save lives year on year and every little helps."

Donations to further Ian's efforts can be made to 'The Mayor's Charity Fund' and posted to Gordon Birtwistle, c/o Town Hall, Burnley.

Hair-brained theories

WHEN Matt Jansen ran out sporting a new head-band on his comeback at Widnes on Tuesday night my first reaction was to assume it must have been for medical purposes.

Maybe it was some kind of aid the club's medical staff had recommended to protect his head.

However, when I later put my theory to the test with club doctor Phil Batty he soon put me straight: "It's to keep his hair out of his eyes."

How stupid did I feel?

New Yorkie?

TALKING of hair, see if you notice anything different about Dwight Yorke's appearance at today's game against Newcastle.

Apparently, Yorkie is sporting a new hair-style from the one he had when he signed in the summer although you need a trained eye to spot the difference.
