RADCLIFFE Boro declared themselves delighted with the draw for the fourth qualifying round of the FA Cup which gave them a home tie against Nationwide Conference high-fliers Chester City.

Boro chairman Bernard Manning Junior said: "It's a fantastic draw. We are all pleased with it."

With Chester averaging gates of 3-4,000 at present, Boro officials are hoping for a gate of around the 1,500 mark for the tie on Saturday October 26, which is subject to police approval.

Victory would be a real booster, with £20,000 up for grabs and a place in the first round proper, but at least Boro should be guaranteed another tidy sum from the gate receipts if the game goes to form.

Boro manager Kevin Glendon said: "We are absolutely delighted with it.

"It's one of those draws where you could either do with someone beatable at home or a decent pay day and I think we've got both.

"Chester are going well and looking like getting back into the Football League, but we've got lads who have been about and want to step up, so it's a great opportunity for us.

"We hadn't reached the first round of the FA Cup for 50 years, so if we can do it twice in the last three years it would be a fantastic achievement."

The cup draws weren't making things easy for Radcliffe Borough this week. After pulling Chester out of the hat on Monday in the FA Cup, they were sent to another Conference outfit, Leigh RMI, in the first round of the Marsden Lancashire Trophy in the week commencing Monday November 11.

Boro have a home game against Chorley at Stainton Park tomorrow (kick-off 3pm) and have a re-arranged league date at home to Workington on Tuesday, October 29.
