RESIDENTS of Blackburn and Darwen are being urged to remember recycling at the most wasteful time of the year.
Mountains of rubbish are produced each Christmas and New Year and recycling officers at Blackburn with Darwen Council are urging residents to recycle as much as possible.
They say at least 70per cent of so-called rubbish can easily be recycled or composted in the garden.
"Burying our rubbish costs council tax payers millions of pounds every year and harms our environment as well," said waste policy and recycling officer Stuart Hammond.
