REGARDING the latest attempt by Blackburn with Darwen Council to completely isolate anyone who needs to go into town by car by bringing in parking charges on centre streets (LET, November 21), where do those who need to go to town park?
Come down the streets in Bank Top. Everyone parks there already.
I wrote to the principal of Blackburn College to draw attention to the long-term parking on residential streets -- eight or nine hours isn't uncommon.
In my view, in a geographical sense, the college is responsible for the traffic difficulties in the town. It's so fragmented, has inadequate road systems and few parking facilities.
I'm surprised students can afford cars, but they certainly can't run them as, here, they are parked for hours on end. Roll on the school holidays.
I wonder what would happen if I plonked my car for eight hours in front of councillors' homes.
