A FOULRIDGE student has helped give Towneley Hall a festive sprucing up with a traditional seasonal makeover.

Sandra Pickup, from City & Guilds Floristry course delivered at Foulridge Village Hall, helped create the displays along with other students from Myerscough College.

Since last September, Myerscough College has offered a range of horticultural and floristry demonstrations, workshops and lectures from the historic country house, as well as from the main campus.

Peter Caney, who is responsible for organising and developing the College's activities at Towneley Hall said, "At Myerscough we are keen to make our courses accessible to all, and this initiative with Towneley Hall is proving to be very popular with residents in East Lancashire.

"The courses we offer range from those requiring a degree of skill to those suitable for complete beginners.

"So whether you are interested in developing your hobby or want to improve your career prospects, there is a course for you."

Val Kenyon, Floristry tutor at Myerscough College who delivers courses at Towneley Hall said: "The standard of floral displays within the Hall is very impressive, which is testament to the groups' hard work and determination on the introductory Floristry course.

"It is a pleasure to see students develop their skills and demonstrate them to such a high standard."
