IN a brief interlude during the interval at the Exeter match, the Bury FC Supporters Society (Forever Bury) handed over its first donation to the club.

A cheque for £5000 was donated to enable the club to buy equipment for cleaning plastic seats and also for machinery to assist in clearing litter from the terraces.

The cheque was only the first of what is hoped will be many similar donations to the club. In fact, the second payout is already on its way.

This time the cash will pay for software to upgrade and expand the club's website.

The Bury FC website already has a high reputation among football fans, but Gordon Sorfleet, who runs it, has been operating with a mixed bag of equipment and a revamp is overdue.

Gordon has ideas of a new feature he will be able to include including video footage of "best games" which the shakers have been involved in, in the past.

Nor is this the only good computer news at Bury.

Forever Bury's own website has already had a facelift, courtesy of Mr John Risby who has donated a new server for the supporter's website. Computer geecks will understand what that means. For most of us, it means that the fans website will be faster, more reliable, have more options and stand alone instead of being a subsidiary of the Bury FC website.

Meanwhile, there are some other developments to report.

At the last home game, some Forever Bury stalwarts were out in the pouring rain conducting a fans survey.

Hardly ideal conditions for accosting people with a clipboard, but they did it. Now, answers to the questions put to the supporters are being analysed.

Among the consequences which will follow will be a membership drive, starting with the Rochdale game on Saturday, December 21.

The hope is that many supporters who are not members of "Forever Bury", while being sympathetic to the Society's aims will take the opportunity to sign up and join the happy band. As has been said previously, it is not just your subscriptions we want, it is your company we value more.
