There are few crumbs of comfort to take from being on the wrong side of a heavy defeat -- but Blue Star only have to look at how far their opposition have come in the last 12 months.

For JFC Dynamos once wondered where that first win would come from and have come on in leaps and bounds since being the league whipping boys a year ago.

But it is just a matter of practice makes perfect for new boys Blue Star who are still looking for the first victory of their short careers.

The pluses they can take out of the game is their determination and never-say-die attitude.

That was captured in the performance of Dominic Houston who defended doggedly throughout the first half then pulled off a string of fine saves when asked to go in the nets after the break.

But while Blue Star did their best to compete they were always second best against a very slick JFC Dynamos side who in Zac Slater had a real match-winner.

For Slater helped himself to a well taken hat-trick and was a handful throughout the match.

The youngster finally broke Blue Star resistance when he weaved his way past three defenders to fire beyond Jacob Hesmondhalgh. His second arrived not long after when the keeper dropped Andrew Bryce's cross and Slater swept home the loose ball.

Blue Star's attacks were few and far between but Joe Tootal did well to get a shot on target which Ashley Evans saved easily.

Dynamos then made it 3-0 when Tootal again swung in another dangerous cross and the lively Jake Shorrock swivelled to fire home before Matthew Gill put through his own net just before the break.

Blue Star continued to battle after the break but it was soon 5-0 when Houston saved Slater's shot only for Ben Maxwell to fire home the rebound.

Slater then completed his hat-trick in the best move of the match that saw Kieran Wallace release Ashley Evans down the left and his cross was cooly tucked away by the in-form striker.

Blue Star skipper Jake Tucker nearly pulled one back but his well struck shot went just the wrong side of the post. Evans then made it 7-0 when he latched on to Jay Rowles free kick and Bryce completed the scoring after Houston pulled off a brilliant save to keep out Evans long range effort.
