SOLDIERS at an Army training base in Bury are set to benefit from a massive national revamp of support services.
A £600 million contract with Landmarc Support Services means catering, accommodation IT systems and a number of other jobs on the sites will be covered by the company. In the past staff contracts were given to separate businesses but all work for the Bury based soldiers will be covered by the one-stop shop.
With an estimated rise in the number of people who need to be trained over the next decade, army bosses said it was important to have the facilities to cater for these numbers.
Colonel Mike Smith said: "This is great news and will lead to more efficient management of the Training Estate. With the introduction of new management information and booking systems we can offer a better service to the army."
