TYLDESLEY made the trip to Rossendale in buoyant mood following two consecutive victories but a combination of lack of concentration and poor set piece work handed the home side the points.

Rossendale opened the scoring with a penalty but Tyldesley hit back with a concerted period of pressure which saw the forwards suck the defensive cover in, allowing fly half Mark Dickinson to spread the ball wide.

There centre Adam Fetherston ran well before offloading to winger Craig Broadhurst, who scored in the corner to give Tyldesley a 5-3 lead.

The home side then stepped up a gear, winning three consecutive strikes against the head to score a try which went unconverted.

Yet again Rossendale were allowed to pick and drive the ball up the middle of the park from the restart and some hard running by the

back line allowed them to breach the Tyldesley line, eventually leading to another try.

Both fly halves then traded penalties before the break, which arrives with Rossendale ahead 18-8.

An early second half penalty increased Rossendale's lead to 13 points but Tyldesley finally found the form and began to make ground on a regular basis.

Another Dickinson penalty cut the deficit to ten points and further pressure produced an error in the Rossendale back line, who spilt the ball allowing Dickinson to collect and race in from 30 metres out for a try which he also converted to bring Tyldesley within four points.

But Rossendale won the ball at a lineout from the restart and a two subsequent penalties allowed them to ease to victory.

On Saturday second-placed Carlisle visit St. George's for a 2.15pm kick-off.
