ROTHERHAM striker Alan Lee today reflected on his heroics at Turf Moor at the weekend and admitted: "Stan Ternent was right to sell me."

After seeing both Lee and John Mullin return in style on Saturday, Ternent admitted that he would not have sold them had they played like that at Burnley.

And Lee agreed: "Someone does not sell a good player for no reason. If I had been playing well I would not have been sold to Rotherham but it was the right move for me.

"To be honest I wish I had played like I did on Saturday when I was at Burnley, then I might have stayed. The problem was that I did not really get a good run in the side and there were times that I felt I should have played.

"I would obviously have liked to have played more but it wasn't to be. I needed to move on to get regular football and it is since then that my game has improved.

"Through the experience of playing week in, week out, I have become a better player and I think that is showing this season. I am that much fitter and I have been happier than when I was at Burnley because I am a regular and I think that has shown as I have scored a few goals already this season."

Lee was delighted by the welcome the fans gave him before the game and even happier that he got a positive response after the game.

"I stayed over in Burnley and went out with a few of the lads," he said. "Some people thought it might not be the best idea to go out but, to be honest, the fans were brilliant to me and came up and said well done, even though they were not happy with the result.

"But the fans have always been great with me and I did appreciate it."

Lee had only one disappointment: "I really should have had a hat-trick," he said.
