THE landlord of a pub in Balderstone celebrated his first year behind the bar by raising more than £4,000 for charity.
Ian Lord-Riddoch, 38, of The Myerscough Inn, celebrated with regulars after raising a grand total of £4,228.
The money raised at the pub on the A59 opposite British Aerospace came from the weekly Wednesday night quiz.
He raised it with the help of quizmaster Harry Dabbs, with all proceeds going to Cancer Research UK.
The money will fund vital research projects looking at finding a cure for cancer.
Ian previously worked at the Moorcock Inn, at Waddington for 15 years before taking over the Myerscough last year. He also said that all the praise should go to the regulars.
He said: "I moved here after my boss bought the tenancy, I came over because I just fancied a change.
"It was the regulars who decided they wanted to raise it for Cancer Research. It was the charity before I came in and so we just kept it on."
Mr Eric Bancroft, President of Blackburn District & Ribble Valley Cancer Research UK, has attended the Wednesday night quiz whenever possible. He said: "I have been greatly impressed by the generosity of the regulars."
